The symbol on the bell is the Buddhist Om Aum symbol which is said to be the sacred vibration that emerged from the emptiness at the dawn of creation. It represents the universe and ultimate reality and is the sound by which all things are manifested hence its use in chants and invocations.

Bells have long been hugely symbolic and practical tools within folk magic and witchcraft, believed to be repellers of evil spirits and the evil eye they are associated with the divine, creative power and the feminine. They can be rung in rituals to announce intention and concentrate energy and can be used to invoke the gods, the dead, and the fairy folk. In many cultures and spiritual traditions bells are attached to clothing or worn as amulets by both humans and important animals. Bells also have a history as fertility charms and as a medicinal too so they are really an incredible all-round tool and talisman.
